The Camden New Journal gives a thoughtful review of the "X-rated Shakespeare chainsaw massacre" that is Richard III. The "nod to modernity" offered by contemporary dress in the production is questioned, while the all-male company (a "nod to traditional Shakespeare") adds to the "strangeness of the spectacle". The reviewer recommends the show, noting that the "savage anarchy...may get closer to the heart of the play" than certain other productions of the same.
